Avy
About the project:
The winner of the 'Emergency Response and SAR' award is Avy, who have collaborated with the fire brigade in the Netherlands to investigate the use of drones for wildfire prevention & control. This project is well underway to establish an early wildfire warning system with daily drone flights. The Avy Aera drone creates high-resolution imagery of vast areas of land to warn firefighters about potential fire outbreaks, based on temperature, radiation, visuals, and fire developments over time. The drones can be used to monitor vast areas of land, discover small wildfires early, and provide situational awareness during rapidly expanding wildfires.

What Airwards Judges said:
An excellent project that takes a holistic view of the use of drones to a specific and complex use case: the prevention and mitigation of wildfires. This impressive solution has a responsible approach, great focus and a lot of potential. VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) plus a drone station is very innovative and opens up future operations. This project will be extremely useful, not only in saving lives but also contributing to disaster management and prevention as well as post incident missions.
