RPAS Training Academy
About the project:
RPAS Training Academy takes the prize in the ‘Training and Certification’ category for its Genesis Hub Drone Academy, which trained 20 unemployed youths to be qualified commercial drone pilots over a 12-month work experience programme. The company was the first of its kind to offer a training programme with a combined work experience phase and after successful completion, every student was either fully employed or taking on further learnerships within the industry.

What Airwards Judges said:
This is a wonderful example of an experimental case-study on developing underprivileged youth education focused on drone careers, which has had impressive success and shown the potential for future wider rollout of similar programmes. It goes far beyond training and embraces the future employment of the qualified pilot in a far more holistic manner. I can’t wait to see how this can be scaled sustainably and rapidly into a viable long term and wide-reaching solution.
