Why enter an awards platform?

Perhaps you’re a dab hand at entering awards, or maybe this is the first time you’re considering submitting your work.

Whatever your experience, it’s always helpful to remind yourself why you should enter any awards scheme in the first place. In this blog, Airwards Awards Manager, Ella Thomas, explores the top three reasons awards are valuable.

RECOGNITION

Think back to the last time you were recognised for your efforts. Perhaps it was an employer recognising the extra mile you went to in a particular project. Or it could have even been something as simple as your partner thanking you for taking the bins out. You may not have noticed if you didn’t receive the recognition, but how good did it feel that you did?

In the words of Andy Murray: “Winning is the biggest motivation”. Furthermore, according to Great Place to Work - the global authority on workplace culture - recognition helps employees see that their company values them and their contributions to the success of their team and the company overall.

What better way to recognise a hard-working team than entering their work into an awards programme? Even if the project doesn’t win, knowing that you believed it could, shows your team you believe in them.

BENCHMARKING

If you’ve read our ‘6 top tips for writing a winning entry’ post you’ll know the importance of benchmarking your metrics in your entry. The same value can be applied to your business. If you do not know where you stand beside your competitors, you won’t know what and how you need to improve.

When you are able to refer to yourself as award-winning it automatically sets you apart from your competitors when it comes to pitching for work.

FAME

Everybody wants their brand to be famous, right? Or certainly, to have your company well-known as an expert in your field. However, making your name in an industry which is projected to be worth $42.8B by 2025 (according to the Drone Market Report 2019) can be challenging.

Handily, every stage of Airwards, from shortlist and winner announcements to general awards updates, is shared via the Airwards social media channels, newsletters and industry press, making plenty of opportunities to have your name included.

Competing at the highest level is not about winning. It’s about preparation, courage, understanding and nurturing your people, and heart. Winning is the result

Entering awards isn’t necessarily about the winning, but everything that takes place in the lead-up to it.
